Description

Interns are recruited annually from various tertiary institutions for participation in a structured Internship Programme. The rationale behind the programme is to increase skills within the company as well as the industry. This programme also addresses succession planning and transformation objectives. This is a generic structured programme that assist companies to expose and develop the interns. The internship programme is a 12 month programme and permanent employment upon the completion of the programme can not be guaranteed.

Responsibilities

•  Assisting in analyzing the cost structure of vehicle production, including raw materials, labor, and overhead costs.
•  Supporting inventory management by helping track parts, finished goods, and supplies used in manufacturing.
•  Analyzing production efficiency and cost variances to identify potential savings opportunities.
•  Assisting in financial modeling to evaluate vehicle pricing strategies, promotions, or discounts.
•  Helping assess the profitability of different vehicle models and trim levels.
•  Conducting market research to understand competitive pricing and demand factors.
•  Supporting the finance team in tracking sales performance, revenue recognition, and dealer incentives.
•  Assisting with revenue forecasts based on sales trends, new model launches, or seasonal changes.
•  Helping with the preparation of monthly or quarterly reports on sales revenue, dealer commissions, and financial performance.
•  Analyzing and supporting finance programs offered to customers, such as lease options, financing rates, or incentive programs.
•  Assisting in the preparation of financial reports related to financing options and their impact on cash flow and profitability.
•  Helping track customer loan and lease payment schedules and reporting on defaults or overdue payments.
•  Supporting the accounts payable team by processing payments to suppliers and vendors.
•  Assisting in managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely payments for automotive parts, components, or equipment.
•  Helping to track and reconcile supplier invoices, contracts, and payments.

Requirements

•  Completed tertiary qualification (Degree / Diploma) by a recognized tertiary institution
•  Academic Average 60%

Skills & Competencies

•  Proficiency in financial analysis: Ability to interpret financial data, conduct variance analysis, and assess profitability. This is crucial for evaluating cost structures in automotive production and sales.
•  Financial modeling: Familiarity with Excel or financial modeling tools to create models for pricing, forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.
•  Budgeting and forecasting: Ability to assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts, which are essential for production planning and sales projections in the automotive industry.
•  Understanding of financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
•  Knowledge of cost accounting principles to analyze production costs and determine the cost per unit for vehicle manufacturing.
•  Familiarity with tax regulations relevant to the automotive industry (e.g., sales tax on vehicles, tax credits for electric vehicles).
•  Data accuracy is crucial in financial reporting and analysis. Interns should be able to enter data meticulously and identify discrepancies in financial reports, invoices, or budgets.
•  Excel skills: Strong proficiency in Excel for financial analysis, data entry, and reporting. Skills in using advanced functions, pivot tables, and formulas are essential.
•  ERP systems: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like SAP, Oracle, or other industry-specific software used for financial management and reporting.
•  Interns should be able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and projects efficiently. This includes balancing day-to-day financial tasks like data entry with more strategic activities like report preparation and cost analysis.
•  A keen interest in finance and a desire to learn about the automotive industry will help interns engage with their responsibilities and expand their knowledge base. Curiosity about emerging technologies in the automotive sector (e.g., electric vehicles, autonomous driving) can also be beneficial.
•  Strong teamwork skills are essential as the finance intern will work alongside various departments such as manufacturing, sales, and operations. The ability to collaborate effectively with others and communicate financial data in an understandable way is crucial.
