Description

To operate and maintain the Forklift in a safe and cost effective manner. Ensure comprehensive Customer service in the Store. Merchandising of stock, shelf price labelling and housekeeping within designated area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

•  Greet customers and assess their needs.
•  Advise customers on products and assist with product queries and complaints.
•  Promote additional sales (e.g., paint with paint brushes, thinners, etc.).
•  Ensure efficient customer service, including careful loading of purchases.
•  Inform customers about additional services: delivery, bulk deposits, credit programs, and more.
•  Safely merchandise bulk stock as per store layout plans.
•  Ensure area of responsibility is fully merchandised following approved layouts.
•  Keep the designated area obstacle-free and ensure stock is merchandised immediately.
•  Maintain correct shelf price labeling.
•  Complete the required checklists, including Canteen and Toilet/Showers schedules.
•  Avoid overloading the forklift and shelving.
•  Wear safety gear (helmet, kidney belt) while operating the forklift.
•  Report forklift faults or when it is due for service.
•  Ensure daily forklift inspections and complete checklists.
•  Identify gaps in displays, investigate, and report to management.
•  Be vigilant for suspicious behavior and report concerns.
•  Ensure no product is loaded without proof of purchase or proper documentation.
•  Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards.
•  Meet targets and ensure accuracy in work.
•  Maintain best practice quality and follow through on commitments.
•  Identify root causes of problems and resolve or escalate them as necessary.
•  Make decisions within company policies and consider their consequences.
•  Work within operational frameworks, manage time effectively, and maintain consistency under pressure.
•  Communicate courteously and effectively with others.
•  Share relevant information with stakeholders in line with company values.

Requirements

•  Grade 12 or minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
•  Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available.
•  Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
•  Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and Public Holidays.
•  Must be able to work under pressure.
•  Must be physically fit to operate a forklift.
•  Must have a valid forklift license.
