The North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus) is seeking two Protection Officers for the Department of Protection Services. The role involves ensuring safety and security on the Potchefstroom campus by following specific safety and crime prevention strategies.

Responsibilities

•  Communication and Stakeholder Relations:
•  
•  Communicate effectively with clients regarding Protection Services at various deployments.
•  Assist and ensure compliance with campus safety and security strategies, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
•  Crime Information Management:
•  
•  Attend to incidents and ensure crime information is reported to the Control Room and documented properly.
•  Operations:
•  
•  Conduct daily patrols and manage access control to ensure campus safety.
•  Monitor compliance of service providers at access points and report deviations.
•  Perform alarm management and ensure effective communication via radio and telephone.
•  Manage incidents, report faults and deviations, and handle building security (locking and unlocking).
•  Security:
•  
•  Ensure physical crime prevention measures comply with regulations and policies.
•  Oversee outsourced security services and ensure adherence to service-level agreements.
•  Disaster Management:
•  
•  Assist with disaster management by responding to incidents and coordinating internal stakeholders in response to catastrophic events.
•  Special Events and Emergency Services:
•  
•  Protect public lives and university property against fire hazards and other safety risks.
•  Ensure special event security complies with relevant legislation.

Requirements

•  Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
•  Background in paramilitary or security.
•  PSIRA Grade C certification (must be maintained).
•  Ability to function well in a team.
•  Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
•  Strong communication and customer service orientation.
•  Proactive and innovative.
•  Good time management skills.
