Description

The Retail Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the retail store, its employees, and customers. This includes preventing theft, monitoring activities, and responding to emergencies. The officer will provide a visible deterrent to crime and maintain a secure environment.

Responsibilities

•  CCTV Monitoring: Observe cameras to detect theft or suspicious behavior.
•  Store Patrols: Conduct regular patrols inside and outside the store.
•  Apprehend Suspects: Identify and detain shoplifters or fraudsters.
•  Collaboration: Work with store management and law enforcement to report and document incidents.
•  Safety Assurance: Provide a safe environment for customers and staff.
•  Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies like medical incidents or altercations.
•  Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas.
•  ID Verification: Verify identification of individuals entering and exiting.
•  Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports on incidents and observations.
•  Record Maintenance: Maintain records of incidents and security issues.
•  Customer Assistance: Help customers with inquiries and directions.
•  Professional Interaction: Maintain a courteous demeanor with customers and staff.
•  Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain security equipment like CCTV systems, alarms, and radios.
•  Equipment Checks: Regularly check and ensure all security equipment is functional.
•  Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
•  Continuous Learning: Stay updated on security best practices and legal requirements.

Requirements

•  PSIRA Registration: Must have a valid and up-to-date Grade C PSIRA registration.
•  Education: Grade 10 or higher.
•  Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
•  Search Procedure Knowledge: Understanding of search procedures.
•  Appearance: Neat and presentable.
•  Location: Must reside in Kwaggasfontein or nearby areas.
•  Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
•  Observational Skills: Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
•  Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•  Composure: Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
•  Security Systems Knowledge: Basic knowledge of security systems and equipment.
•  Physical Fitness: Able to stand or walk for extended periods.
